Abstract      Finding the Trachea follows a community of students and teachers “harvesting” 19 turkeys on a small, closed-circuit farm. The film’s subjects remain mostly unidentified by face—rather, the rhythm of their voices, hands, and bodies melt into the surrounding landscape as the formation of collective knowledge and memory unfolds against the backdrop of asynchronous voiceover. The film’s structuralist chapters slowly disintegrate, leaving a richly haptic investigation into life and death, work and play.

 

Résumé      Finding the Trachea suit une communauté d'étudiants et d'enseignants « récoltant » 19 dindes dans une petite ferme en circuit fermé. Les sujets du film restent, pour la plupart, non identifiables par leur visage. Plutôt, les rythmes de leurs voix, de leurs mains et de leurs corps se fondent dans le paysage environnant, tandis que se forment la connaissance et la mémoire collectives sur fond de voix off asynchrones. Les chapitres qui structurent le film se désintègrent lentement, laissant place à une quête haptiquement riche sur la vie et la mort, le travail et le jeu.
